Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Interviewly website and web application (together, the “Service”) and the Interviewly browser extension published on the Chrome Web Store (the “Extension”). By using the Service or the Extension, you agree to this policy.

Interviewly is a job-search tool. It helps signed-in users store profiles, generate tailored resumes and cover letters, track applications, and apply to jobs from the browser.

The Extension’s disclosed single purpose is to help authenticated Interviewly users prepare and submit job applications from pages they open in Chrome. That includes reading job and application pages the user asks it to process, filling forms with the user’s saved Interviewly profile, downloading generated resumes, and optionally using the user’s ChatGPT session to draft answers to application questions.

We collect, use, and transmit user data only as needed for that purpose and related operations such as signing you in, storing your applications, and keeping the product working. We do not collect data for advertising, and we do not sell user data.

Categories below use Chrome Web Store privacy-practice labels. Collection happens when you create an account, sign in, use the Service, or use an Extension feature. The Extension does not collect your general browsing history in the background.

The Extension also stores some data only on your device in Chrome’s local storage, including keyword lists, UI preferences, batch-apply state, and bot-apply logs. That local data is removed if you uninstall the Extension or clear extension storage.

• Create and maintain your account and keep you signed in.
• Show and edit profiles, templates, applications, and interview schedules.
• Generate tailored resume and cover-letter content by sending profile and job text to OpenAI on our servers.
• Fill employer application forms with your saved profile, resume file, and answers when you start Auto-fill or bot apply.
• Route application questions through your ChatGPT session when you enable that feature, then save answers to the application.
• Classify connected Gmail messages for interview and application follow-up when a mailbox is authorized in the Service.
• Provide support, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure.

The Extension requests broad host access so it can run on employer career sites you open. It does not scrape the web in the background. Features that read a page run when you trigger them (including keyboard shortcuts and bot apply you start).

We share data only as needed to operate Interviewly:

• Interviewly servers. The Extension sends account, profile, job, and application data to the Service over HTTPS.
• OpenAI. The Service sends profile and job text to OpenAI to generate application materials, and may send email subject and body text to OpenAI to classify connected mailbox mail.
• ChatGPT (OpenAI) in your browser. If you use the Extension’s ChatGPT feature, question text is entered into ChatGPT in your own session. That use is governed by OpenAI’s policies, not by an API key in the Extension.
• Employers and applicant tracking systems. When you apply, the Extension submits the information you chose to those sites (for example Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and similar). Those sites have their own privacy policies.
• Google. If Gmail is connected in the Service, we use Google APIs to read and label mail for that mailbox.
• Infrastructure providers. Hosting and database providers that process data on our instructions.

We do not sell user data. We do not share user data with advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers. We do not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for unrelated purposes.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets, in which case this policy will still apply or you will be notified.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide or improve the Interviewly mailbox and related job-search features you enable. It is not used for serving advertisements. It is not sold. Human access is limited to cases needed to operate or secure the Service, with your permission, or as required by law.

• Data in transit between the Extension, your browser, and the Service is sent over HTTPS.
• Account passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use signed JWT cookies.
• Service data is stored in our database (MongoDB) on our hosting infrastructure.
• Extension settings and logs are stored locally in Chrome storage on your device.
• Resume PDFs you generate may be downloaded to your computer when you request them.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Account, profile, application, and interview data are kept until you (or an Interviewly administrator) delete them, or until we delete an account that is unused or banned. Local Extension data remains until you clear it or uninstall the Extension. Server backups, if any, are kept only as long as needed for recovery and then removed.

• Sign out of the Extension or the Service at any time.
• Uninstall the Extension from Chrome to stop all Extension collection.
• Edit profile and application data in the Service.
• Request access, correction, or deletion of your account data by emailing richardar0306@gmail.com. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.
• Disconnect a Gmail mailbox from the Service to stop Google API access for that mailbox.

Interviewly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will change when we do. If we change how we handle user data in a material way after you install the Extension, we will disclose that change prominently — including in this policy and, where required, through the product or Chrome Web Store listing.
